The Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales announced they are taking
applications for their new Integrated Learning Programme. After September students
under the new AAT to ACA fast track progression route will be able to study on-line
for the AAT Audit and Tax top-up paper.
The flexible on-line programme integrates self-study with full support from experienced
tutors. Students will be able to fit their study around work and home commitments
and any study leave offered by employers can be taken to fit in with assignments
rather than being fixed to specific days or weeks.
Trevor Faulkner, BSc ACA, Lead Tutor for Audit, and Assurance and Carolyn Johnson
BA ACA, Lead Tutor for Taxation, both assisted in the development of the programme
and are two of the on-line tutors. Trevor Faulkner said: "This is an excellent programme
as it provides a realistic alternative to the taught courses. Both Carolyn and I
are delighted to be involved with the Institute in this project."
Students who opt for the on-line programme will be directed through the learning
materials by chapter commentaries which explain how to work through the material,
give guidance on the time required and provide help to students with time management
and structuring their study. Information on how the exams are assessed such as weightings,
pass marks and retake restrictions are given, in addition to supplementary information
on important chapters, question design and other useful advice.
Students will be able to e-mail queries to the tutors, and interact with them through
the course website. Replies considered to be helpful to all students will be posted
anonymously to the discussion area of the site where students will be able to post
follow up questions for tutors to respond to. In addition to e-mail support from
the tutors, students will be able to contact each other via the course website to
discuss their studies and other course issues, enabling students from different
organisations and different areas of the country to interact. Further information
can be found at www.icaew.co.uk/learning.
